One of the main capitals of Brazil, Porto Alegre is a cultural and economic hub in the south of the country. The city hosts several fairs and congresses from the most different sectors and has hosted events such as the World Social Forum or the Mercosul Visual Arts Biennial. No wonder, the air taxi in Porto Alegre is an option for those who need a comfortable and agile experience to access the region.

Another differential of the state capital is its privileged position in relation to the South Cone of America. This is because Porto Alegre is positioned between São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo and Buenos Aires, four of the main cities on the continent, where the most relevant national and global companies installed here are located.

Now, if the conversation is about tourism in Porto Alegre, the attractions are countless. The São Pedro Theater, the Iberê Camargo Museum and the Mario Quintana Culture House, for example, are essential tours for those who want to get to know the gaucho culture. If nature is your preference, visits to Redenção and Moinhos de Vento parks or to the Guaíba shore are mandatory.

The city can also be the starting point to get to know Gramado, the main destination of Serra Gaúcha, or its neighbor Canela. During the winter, it is even possible to come across snow in the region, taking the opportunity to warm up in the cozy and romantic local restaurants and chalets, with a wide range of wines, cheeses, fondues and other delights. A nearby destination that has also attracted attention is Cambará do Sul, in the region of the Rio Grande do Sul canyons, where the landscapes are exuberant scenarios for ecotourism.

What Are the Most Used Aerodromes?

The main equipment in Porto Alegre is the Salgado Filho International Airport (POA; SBPA), the largest and busiest airport in all of Rio Grande do Sul and one of the ten busiest in Brazil. There is the option of the private Aeroclube de Eldorado do Sul (SIXE), which is located in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, less than 30 minutes by car from the center of the state capital. In it, only helicopter flights or instruction flights with light aircraft are allowed.

The city is even well equipped to receive helicopters. In case of medical emergencies, two of the main hospitals in Porto Alegre have helipads: Moinhos de Vento (SSHM) and Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Porto Alegre (SIAK). Other options are in the Carlos Gomes Center (SJRN) and Iguatemi Corporate (SWSE) corporate buildings.

If you use Porto Alegre as a starting point for the other cities in Rio Grande do Sul, there are also options in operation in these destinations. To access Canela and Gramado, the gateway is usually the Região das Hortênsias helipad (SDTT) or the Canela Airport (CEL; SSCN). While access in Cambará do Sul is through uninhabited areas close to local hotels.
