5 executives, 7 days’ worth of luggage, a restricted runway, and the holiday season: how did we navigate the logistics challenges to deliver a personalized and exclusive service?

Recently, a major retail chain presented us with this challenge while seeking the ideal aerial solution to transport its top five sales executives for a one-week stay in Trancoso, right in the middle of the end-of-year season.

Upon engaging Flapper, the mission was redefined: we needed to overcome logistical hurdles to start the celebration early. At first glance, flying five passengers to Bahia seems simple. However, in executive aviation, every detail counts, and this mission presented specific challenges:

    • Luggage: There were 5 people traveling for a 7-day stay. This meant large suitcases, not just carry-ons. Most Light Jets have severe baggage compartment restrictions when flying with a full cabin.
    • Destination (Restricted Runway): The goal was to land at Terravista Airport (SBTV). The runway, although paved and excellent, requires aircraft with strong braking and takeoff performance, especially in the Bahian heat.
    • Availability: It was high season; securing landing and overnight slots at Terravista was essential.

Strategically chosen to break the frenetic pace faced by the executives, Trancoso combines paradisiacal beaches with the cosmopolitan charm of the Quadrado, allowing the team to not only celebrate their figures but also regain their inspiration.

However, arriving at this paradise isn’t so simple or accessible. By commercial aviation, the nearest arrival point is Porto Seguro Airport (BPS), located 78.1 km from Trancoso, forcing a long land journey and/or ferry crossing, totaling up to 5 hours of travel time to the final destination when departing from São Paulo.

From São Paulo to Trancoso aboard the Cessna Citation CJ2

For a mission involving five passengers and luggage for a long stay, precision in aircraft selection is vital. Our team conducted a feasibility analysis focused on two pillars: cabin comfort and runway performance, selecting the Cessna Citation CJ2 for this mission.

Belonging to the Light Jet category, this model offered the ideal configuration. With capacity for up to six passengers and two pilots, it accommodated the group of five executives with ample comfort. The internal Club Seating layout fostered team interaction throughout the flight, making the experience even more fluid.

Reaching speeds of approximately 765 km/h, the jet combines speed with recognized performance on restricted runways, ensuring safe takeoffs and landings on short strips. However, the decisive factor was logistics: the model operates with total safety on the Terravista runway and boasts a spacious external baggage compartment, allowing for the transport of all long-stay luggage without sacrificing internal cabin space.

    The Flight Experience

To ensure “celebration mode” was activated instantly, we eliminated all the common wear and tear of airports. Clients had access to the VIP Lounge, without the need to arrive hours in advance, face check-in lines, or check bags in crowded terminals. This agility, exclusive to executive aviation, allows you to travel on your own time, transforming the journey into part of the destination.

On board, the atmosphere was one of total decompression. As personalized catering was served, the urban scenery of São Paulo gradually gave way to the enchanting outline of the Brazilian coast, marking the transition from routine to relaxation.

For maximum convenience, boarding took place at Campo de Marte Airport (SBMT) in São Paulo, with direct disembarkation at Terravista Airport (SBTV) in Trancoso, in under two hours of flight time. Non-stop, no connections, and above all, on the client’s schedule.

Terravista: the most exclusive gateway to Trancoso

Terravista is an enclave of private infrastructure where exclusivity goes beyond location. Its high operating fees, ranging from R$ 5,000 for light jets to R$ 10,000 for heavy jets, reflect the convenience of landing just minutes from the Quadrado, eliminating long transfers from alternative airports. During peak season, especially in late December, demand is so intense that the apron frequently reaches maximum capacity, potentially forcing aircraft to wait for a spot in Porto Seguro. Therefore, for those wishing to land directly in Trancoso, planning and advance booking are indispensable.

Unlike the impersonal standard of conventional airports, Terravista bets on rustic wood architecture integrated into the natural landscape, offering two comfortable and discreet waiting lounges. The airport also stands out as one of the few runways in the country built literally next to a golf course, the Terravista Golf Course, reinforcing the exclusive experience from landing to arrival.

For those seeking total mobility, arriving at Terravista is just the beginning. There is also the possibility of helicopter transfers from Terravista to over 10 private heliports in the region or for quick connections to Porto Seguro, ensuring the final leg of the journey is as exclusive as the flight itself.
