Our approach:
The client is a local logistics company which acts as a part of a consortium supplying Covid-19 tests to Brazilian public entities. In the face of shortages of coronavirus tests in Brazil, the transported product was deemed an essential item, of which importation required fast and coordinated action.
The client was presented with two options: (1) A dedicated cargo charter based on a Boeing 747 aircraft and (2) A part-cargo, where the freight is split between a number of airplanes. Due to an urgent character of the freight, time-to-delivery was ranked as the most important success factor. The freight was then distributed among 3 separate airplanes, with a stop-over in Miami International [MIA, KMIA]. A freight forwarding service was additionally included, so that the final list of the deliverables by Flapper included:
- Aircraft handling
- Cargo build / cargo break
- Full flight support by Flapper team
- Coordination of customs and other permissions
The mission required a total of four days, during which a daily status update was sent to the client by the City Manager responsible for the flight. The aircraft involved in the mission varied from Airbus A330F to Boeing 747-400F to Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (belly cargo). A number of possible routes could have been used for the partial transport of all cargo.
