Aircraft Charter / Chile to Ushuaia by Private Plane: The Ultimate Guide for 2026

Rugged landscapes, crystalline air and some of the most untouched wilderness on Earth define the southern tip of South America. Far from mass tourism, Patagonia has become one of the world’s last frontiers of luxury travel – where exclusivity is measured not by excess, but by access to extraordinary places. For more than a decade, our team has been quietly helping travelers discover this remarkable region while respecting its fragile ecosystems and local communities, connecting major international gateways with remote airstrips across Ushuaia, Puerto Natales, Punta Arenas, and even Antarctica. As we welcome another aircraft to our 2026 expedition fleet, we have prepared this guide to help you navigate one of the world’s most complex – and rewarding – aviation and travel environments.

Patagonia and the Antarctic – Where Can I Land by Private Plane?

Contrary to popular belief, Southern Patagonia is well connected by air, particularly for private aviation. The region is served by seven airports capable of handling international operations: Ushuaia (USH), El Calafate (FTE), Puerto Williams (WPU), Río Gallegos (RGL), Puerto Natales (PNT), Punta Arenas (PUQ), and Santa Cruz (RZA). While Ushuaia, El Calafate, and Puerto Williams offer regular international services, the latter four accommodate international flights by prior arrangement.

Additionally, Teniente Rodolfo Marsh Martin Aerodrome (also known as King George or Rey Jorge) in Antarctica is capable of handling international operations. However, obtaining permits for tourist flights is generally more straightforward when those flights originate in Chile than when they depart from other countries.

Beyond the international gateways, we have operated through more than 20 additional airstrips and helipads that support general aviation across Southern Patagonia. We have included each of them in the connectivity map above, demonstrating that even the region’s most remote destinations are often just a short flight away.

Top Private Jet and Helicopter Routes in Patagonia

    Ushuaia – Puerto Natales

The route between Ushuaia and Puerto Natales is our best-selling private charter in Patagonia. We complete the journey in just 1 hour and 30 minutes, compared with approximately nine hours by road, typically operating King Air B200 or B300 turboprops.

When planning this itinerary, we pay particular attention to the international flight permits. By default, Teniente Julio Gallardo Airport (PNT) accommodates international arrivals and departures by prior arrangement, with customs and immigration services available upon advance notice. We also take into account the airport’s parking restrictions and commercial airline traffic, which can make overnight stays difficult and occasionally require us to adjust departure times by one or two hours.

King Air B200 Ushuaia to Puerto Natales private transfer

To fly between Ushuaia and Puerto Natales we recommend an alternative itinerary: a direct domestic flight from Ushuaia to Río Turbio Airport (RYO), followed by our 30-minute ground transfer across the Casas Viejas border crossing into Chile. This allows our clients to complete immigration only once -at the land border – instead of undergoing separate procedures in Ushuaia and Puerto Natales. It also reduces operating costs by keeping the flight domestic.

    Ushuaia – Puerto Williams

The route between Ushuaia and Puerto Williams is one of the world’s shortest international flights that we operate. We offer three options: a King Air B200 turboprop, a Bölkow BO 105 single-engine helicopter, or a Robinson R44 helicopter, completing the journey in as little as 20 minutes.

If agility is your priority, we recommend a helicopter transfer. For an additional fee, we can also include a scenic overflight of Ushuaia before crossing the Beagle Channel into Chile. Thanks to our local operational network, we are often able to arrange departures on the very same day, provided the booking is confirmed early enough and weather and border formalities permit.

    Ushuaia – Punta Arenas

The route between Ushuaia and Punta Arenas can be operated aboard local King Air turboprops or private jets repositioned from cities outside Patagonia. As of 2026, no private jets are permanently based in either Punta Arenas or Ushuaia, making advance planning essential for jet operations on this route.

Travel comfortably aboard the legendary King Air, available in the 100, 200, and 300 series. Depending on the aircraft, the cabin ranges from a six-seat executive configuration to a commuter layout accommodating up to ten passengers. All flights are operated by experienced two-pilot crews, ensuring the highest standards of safety and reliability.

Punta Arenas – King George (Antartctica)

As of 2026, the only practical gateway for private flights to Antarctica is the route between Punta Arenas, Chile, and Teniente Rodolfo Marsh Martin Aerodrome (SCRM) on King George Island. In addition to larger expedition charters operated with Avro RJ85 and RJ100 aircraft, we offer this route aboard King Air 100 and King Air 300 turboprops, accommodating up to nine or ten passengers, with a baggage allowance limited to one bag per person. Although private aircraft can land in Antarctica, such operations remain relatively rare due to the special permits required.

Direct luxury tourist flights from Ushuaia are not permitted. With the exception of Medevac operations, all private charter flights to Antarctica are required to originate in Chile.
