Executive aviation is featured in several movies and TV series. Some of the models shown are frequently seen in the skies over Brazil, and can even be used by you through Flapper’s services. Let’s discover more about them?

It is impossible for aviation enthusiasts not to turn their eyes and attention to the aircraft used in filming electrifying scenes in movies and TV series. Some of the most desired and revered aircraft on the market have even become frequent characters in filming, providing ever greater meaning to specific plot points. When the images are beautiful, or the maneuvers show the full performance of each model, attention is no longer solely focused on the plot context, and instead encompases the machines shown. Although sometimes the use of aircraft is not as elegant as possible, ignoring them completely isn’t an option.

There is a vast array of models and types available in executive aviation, including the ones used on a large scale in Latin America. Those that are considered to be the most famous and versatile have certainly been seen by you already on the screen: from jets to turbo-propellers, from large intercontinental planes to small twin-engine planes. It’s time to learn a little more about some of the types that have been immortalized throughout film and TV.

Wall Street (1987) – Cessna Citation II

This film, which became a landmark of its time, focuses on the dynamic of searching for money and power in the world financial center of New York. Renowned actor Michael Douglas, who portrays the character Gordon Gekko, was awarded the coveted Oscar for Best Actor in 1989 for his performance in Wall Street. And, of course, executive aviation is directly linked to the film’s protagonists.

One of the aircraft with frequent appearances in this film has also been a success in sales and number of units produced. The Cessna Citation II is part of the first generation of executive jets produced by the manufacturer in Wichita, Kansas. Its speed, versatility, and low operating cost became the main factors that led to its enormous success in the world market, including Brazil. Over several decades, beginning in the 1970s, Cessna jets were protagonists in Brazilian skies. Anyone who flew air taxis until the early 2000s was certainly aboard a Citation jet.

    007 – Quantum of Solace (2008) – Bombardier Challenger 605

The most famous spy franchise in the world could not be left off our list. Although known for his luxury cars and goods by his fans, the character of James Bond was also a frequent user of executive aviation in his films. In Quantum of Solace, released in 2008, Bond is played by actor Daniel Craig, who years before had been given the difficult task of replacing another renowned actor, Pierce Brosnan.

Given the grandiosity represented by the 007 in this film, hardly another plane could match the character of the Bombardier Challenger 605. Part of a family of jets from Canada, it is considered one of the most successful intercontinental jet models ever produced. Its main feature is the space in the passenger cabin, which is wider and more spacious compared to its direct competitors. All of this, combined with 970km/h of maximum operating speed flying at 41,000 feet of operating altitude, provides even more comfort on long journeys. The Bombardier Challenger 605 is available at Flapper, for charters or in empty-legs, so you can enjoy all the comfort, speed, and exclusivity that this aircraft offers!

    Ocean’s Thirteen (2007) – Gulfstream G200

Starring acclaimed actors George Clooney and Brad Pitt, Ocean’s Thirteen showcases the versatility and speed of business aviation — albeit for no high purpose. Clooney, playing Danny Ocean, puts together an audacious plan to rob three Las Vegas casinos in one night as the city is distracted by a grandiose world heavyweight title fight.

To implement the plan, the team formed by the other 12 partners uses the iconic Gulfstream G200. It is an aircraft with a very interesting history: its initial project was Israeli and was initiated by the IAI (Israel Aircraft Industries), and then licensed to the American Gulfstream Aerospace in the 1990s. In addition to the modernity of its cockpit, which has sophisticated navigation systems distributed on screens with the “glass cockpit” concept, its main aerodynamic feature is the ability to take off and land on short or poorly prepared runways that are less than 1500m long. Because of this, it provides great versatility without giving up its long range, being able to fly over 6,000km with its maximum passenger, cargo, and fuel capacity, at 900km/h and 45,000 feet of operational altitude. Aiming to offer convenience in a unique portfolio in its category, Flapper takes you to your destination aboard a G200. Reach your business or your place of rest and leisure taking advantage of all the possibilities that this versatile aircraft offers.

    Narcos – Mexico (2018) – Embraer Legacy 600

The series Narcos, distributed exclusively by Netflix, gained success when it portrayed in its initial seasons the rise, life, fall, and death of Colombian drug trafficker Pablo Escobar, head of the Medellín Cartel. After the end of Escobar, the series continued with the portrayal of the lives of other drug traffickers and cartels that gained notoriety on the world stage. The follow up Mexican version of the series details the story of the empire instituted by the Guadalajara cartel.

In the second season of the Narcos: Mexico series, the Embraer Legacy 600 appears frequently. Produced in São José dos Campos, in the interior of São Paulo, it is derived from the ERJ 135 and 145 family, which proved to be a true sales success: more than 1,100 units have been produced since its launch. Its main feature is its generous range, at around 7200km, combined with its capacity that can reach up to 13 passengers. As a project originating from an aircraft designed for use in regular regional aviation, the advantages planned by Embraer were maintained in the executive version, the Legacy 600, such as: the capacity to operate on short runways and in poorly prepared airports without ground support, or not having external stairs and electric power generators. And, as Embraer’s great asset, the aircraft operator can also count on a wide network of maintenance and services around the world, in its own structures or third parties certified by the manufacturer. As such, the Legacy 600 is capable of connecting small private airfields to the world’s largest airports with comfort, strength, and security. The ease of connecting continents and crossing the Atlantic aboard the Legacy 600 is also offered by Flapper: through our platform, easily and quickly, your connection with the world is much easier.

With Flapper, you can enjoy the experience of flying planes that have already appeared on your TV screen. In addition to feeling like a movie star, it is possible to combine the privacy provided by executive aviation with an increase in your productivity or the speed needed in a family vacation trip. Whatever the reason, we and our entire infrastructure are at your disposal.
