The state of São Paulo, famous for its vibrant capital , has a not so popular and equally charming part: its countryside. Home to over 20 million people, it is filled with natural beauty, history and culture.
The vegetation cover in this region is varied, with areas of tropical forests, temperate forests, fields, pastures and mangroves. These habitats are home to a great diversity of fauna species, providing opportunities for tourism and the development of the local economy. It is served by extensive networks of highways, railways and airports, which allow access to major cities.
Characterized by large urban areas, rich in entertainment, infrastructure and services, such as malls, parks, restaurants, museums and theaters. There are also rural areas, with immense green areas, vineyards, rural tourism and agriculture.
What to do in the interior of São Paulo
The countryside is full of natural parks, such as Parque Estadual de Intervales , Serra do Mar and Serra da Cantareira that are home to a wide variety of animal and plant species.
Influenced by European immigrants who arrived in the 19th century, the cities preserve their traditions, cuisine and architecture and offer visitors a true immersion in the culture of their ancestors.
For those who appreciate art, the interior of São Paulo is full of historic buildings and monuments, such as the Museum of Art of Ribeirão Preto and Museum of Archeology and Paleontology of Araraquara.
To stay in the region, the Hotel Fasano Fazenda Boa Vista , located in the city of Porto Feliz, qualifies as a good option. The apartments have an area of 60 m², a large balcony and a panoramic view of the luxurious development. There is the possibility of staying in one of the rooms with direct access to the lake, allowing for a refreshing swim. The hotel’s facilities include a spa, golf course, equestrian center, function room and VIP shuttle . Guests can reach the hotel by helicopter, landing at one of the 6 spots at the Fazenda Boa Vista helipad (SNGL).
Main cities and their airports
The main cities in the north of São Paulo are: Ribeirão Preto, one of the world’s largest producers of sugar and alcohol, and São José do Rio Preto, one of the renowned industrial, cultural and service centers. The respective airports are: Aeroporto Estadual Dr. Leite Lopes (SBRP; RAO) and Professor Eribelto Manoel Reino State Airport (SBSR; SJP).
In western São Paulo, the cities of Presidente Prudente and Bauru stand out. The first for the agricultural sector and the second for the high level of industrialization, the highest in the west of the state. They are served by Adhemar de Barros (SBDN; PPB) and Bauru Arealva (SBAE; JTC) airports.
In the Ribeira Valley, there are Campos do Jordão and São José dos Campos. Campos attracts tourists mainly in the winter season, due to the European architecture and low temperatures at this time of year. Known as the Brazilian Switzerland, it has more than 15 helipads. The second destination, known for its innovation hub, has the Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf International Airport (SBSJ; SJK).
