Recognized by Brazilians and foreigners as the main option when it comes to executive aviation in Brazil, Flapper was recently approached by a group from outside the country for a private flight to start an expedition in the Amazon Forest.
The boarding point would be in Guarulhos (São Paulo) and the final destination in Cruzeiro do Sul (Acre). So it was not a simple trip. Flying over large expanses of trees and low visibility represented adverse conditions and, therefore, a team with a lot of expertise in this type of operation was necessary.
With experience in these situations, those responsible chose to indicate a Learjet 45, which offers a lot of safety on wet tracks and could hold the eight individuals in this group. The beginning of the group’s adventure began with the landing at Guarulhos International Airport – Governador André Franco Montoro [GRU; SBGR], in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, the main gateway for flights arriving from outside Brazil. From Terminal 3 (international), passengers were transferred by van to Terminal 2 (domestic).
The flight left Guarulhos at 12:30 pm on a Thursday towards the first stop: Vilhena Airport – Brigadeiro Camarão [BVH; SBVH], the second busiest equipment in Rondônia, serving mainly Vilhena and the other cities in the Southern Cone of Rondônia and the northwest of Mato Grosso.
Landing in the city took place at 2:20 pm and lasted about 30 minutes. The break was only necessary to fuel the aircraft quickly before the group continued its journey to its final destination: Cruzeiro do Sul International Airport [CZS; SBCZ], in Acre, which receives national and international flights of up to medium-sized aircraft.
The airfield also serves cities in the state of Acre such as Rodrigues Alves and Mâncio Lima, and Guajará, in the Amazon, close to the Amazon Forest. Boarding in Vilhena took place at 2:50 pm and final disembarkation at 4:05 pm. The operation was conducted by a pilot and a co-pilot.

Based on an analysis by Flapper’s experts, the most suitable aircraft for this route was the Bombardier Learjet 45. Combining speed, range and modern avionics, the aircraft offers more safety on wet runways or with degraded sections – a decisive factor in its choice.
It is a super-light jet, which comfortably transports between eight and nine passengers on interstate and international trips. Its flight range is just over 3,100 kilometers, reaching an average speed of 663 km/h.
Luggage capacity is approximately 15 kilos per passenger. Its leather seats are adjustable and the tables are retractable, ensuring more comfort in the cabin. Other amenities are: air conditioning, reading light in the cabin, closed lavatory with sink and structure for on-board service.
